I'm both looking forward to and dreading this experience. I'm not a big fan of essay grading and that's what this will be: seven full work days of grading essays (and learning how to grade essays). However, it is an excellent opportunity to learn more about how these essays are graded as well as make some valuable connections among other AP history teachers.
It's a fantastic opportunity. The event takes place in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College Board pays for our airfare, hotel, meals, and gives a stipend for our time and effort. It's been since Alaska that I've gone on a trip on my own. That alone will be quite an adventure (of grading).
On an odd note: I booked the flight today. I'm flying the same plane there and back (separated by eight days) and will be sitting in the same seat both times. I'll get to see the north side of the trip on the way there and the south side of the trip on the way back. I don't know why, but I find that comforting.
