I also like this day as we usually spend the first half of it getting decorations (including colored eggs) ready for Easter. As a part of this tradition, we also have a meal of Polish sausages, perogies, and sauerkraut. I was disappointed this year to find that the Polish bakery no longer makes angel wings (thin, light flaky pieces of fried dough covered in powdered sugar), a dessert that I only have this time of year and look forward to not just because I like them, but because they remind me of my grandmother (as she always liked them).
Despite that one let-down, it was an amazing and festive day. My brother showed up earlier than expected and, while not really in an Easter theme, bought a load of Nerf guns to the great joy of my children ... and surprisingly my wife. With his early appearance and Alex's surprise arrival the night before, this was one of the more joyful years. Words cannot adequately describe just how happy I've been this weekend.
