We understand that this situation is unprecedented and quite fluid. Just today, our state of Alaska went from only having dine-in services closed in Anchorage in the morning to dine-in services being closed statewide by tomorrow afternoon. Meanwhile, at least one state has already taken the step of closing schools for the rest of this school year. Only God knows what tomorrow will bring. Right now, we are working on what we can work on with the knowledge that we have.
My personal goal is to have everything online that I can for my students to access whether we have school or not. I hope to have discussion boards up and running for students to talk about readings that I am making accessible as well as places for them to deposit writing practices that they would like me to check. I plan on making myself as available as possible to deal with any questions or concerns that they have as well as to provide them with any critiques they would like me to give. As I've told them from day one: I'm not concerned about their grades as much as I'm concerned that they learn, improve, and grow.
This has been a wild school year, starting with the fires and threat of strike at the beginning to a pandemic now. We have made it through all of the challenges put in front of us thus far. We will make it through this as well.
