She has also expressed interest in going out with me early in the morning for Black Friday. Connor, too, has already told me that he will be joining me on my traditional seek-and-destroy shopping adventure. Rowen says he is not interested, but I might just have him come along too as Janelle--unfortunately--will likely have to work. Hopefully, they will give her Thanksgiving off this year (and no, they don't make working on Thanksgiving a choice ... if she wants to stay employed).
From there, it's three short weeks until Christmas break. Trevor should be home on the 12th, in time to celebrate his birthday that weekend. Chloe, the little boys, and I will still be in school that next week. Unfortunately, we won't have our girls with us this holiday season. Katrina will be too close to her due date to travel, and Alex wants to spend the holidays with her. Hopefully, we can work something out next year. Meanwhile, Trevor gets to stay with us for another week past when my break ends.
Towards the end of that last week of school, I plan on watching the new Star Wars movie (The Rise of the Skywalker) the day it comes out--which should be the evening of the 19th. I hope to hang out with friends in Anchorage on the 21st. On the evening of the 22nd, I plan on watching the prequel trilogy and end with Solo (starting around 1 pm, that should end at about 10 pm). On the following day--my birthday--I plan to start with Rogue One, watch the original trilogy, and then watch the first two of the new trilogy (starting at 7am, that should end at around 11pm). It will have been exactly a decade since the last time I did the full Star Wars marathon. I then plan on watching the newest one again sometime Christmas week.
As I did last year, I plan on attending three masses between Christmas Eve and Christmas as I lead the children's choir for the evening mass, sing with the choir for the "midnight" mass, and play guitar for the Christmas morning mass. It's both tiring and fulfilling.
For the turn of the decade (well, not technically), we will do our standard board game party for New Year's Eve. I know that I have missed seeing the Jacks this year.
I would also like to do a Firefly marathon sometime during Christmas break, but I might save that until spring break and do a Nolan Batman trilogy run instead over the holiday.
The holidays are coming soon, and they will fly by quickly as well. I pray that they will be safe and enjoyable for all.
