There was one downside. The boys couldn’t identify what Soundwave and Blaster are supposed to be (a Walkman and boom box, respectively). They referred to the cassette tapes as “records” and were fascinated (at least, momentarily) by the idea that we used such things to listen to music. When I tried to explain the idea of magnetic tape, they were completely lost. They didn't understand that we couldn't instantly skip songs either. That said, they thought the tapes were "cool" and wished we still used them (although why was not clear).
It's amazing the things that make me feel old.
