I think that we are just about ready. The presents are wrapped (and there are a LOT of them); the stockings are stuffed; the pies are made; the wise men have been moved (not to the manger yet--that's a couple weeks away--but they're on their way); and snow has arrived. Meanwhile, I felt a wave of peace flow through me during the end of the nighttime mass.
The church looks great! The children's choir--although squirrelly--performed well and with enthusiasm at their mass. Later, the adult choir did a fantastic job with the music both before and during the nighttime mass. Everything seemed to come together for a perfect offertory of our voices on this holy night.
Jesus' birth rocked the world, but few people noticed it at the time. Such a small and personal event eventually changed the course of history. It makes me wonder what small things I can do in my own life to make the world better.
