Anyway, I decided to discard any other excuses and just get the job done. Rowen joined me while Connor opted to do all of the dishes and make dinner (projects that took considerably less time, it would turn out). Rowen and I found the process a bit arduous, but still easier than earlier years due to the warm weather, the lack of snow piles (and thus we did not have to worry about our hands freezing), and the lack of rain lately (which made everything much easier to pick up).
In the end, it took about an hour and a half and three and a half small wheelbarrow loads to get the job done. My legs hurt from all of the squatting and rising, my back is bothering me from the times I wasn't squatting, and my left forearm has a fiction burn from how often I was using it as a support on my leg. Still, the weather was wonderful: although I worked up a sweat, there was a nice breeze to cool me off. It was nice to be comfortably outside in a t-shirt and shorts again.
The yard looks (and smells) immensely better, and the dogs seemed happy with our work.
