I don't plan on holding my breath when it comes to this new broadband. Currently, I am fortunate to run about 9 megabits per second (mbs) downloads and 1 mbs uploads which is close to what they are guaranteeing with the tower (which will use radio frequency [RF] technology to connect subscribers to the company's fiber optic lines). However, I was told that the average is actually closer to 25 mbs downloads and 2 mbs uploads. The article mentions that the beta testers in Ninilchik are getting speeds up to 50 mbs. Those numbers sound nice, but we live in a bit of a topographical depression and can't even get in TV stations, so I'm not as sure about what this new tech will provide.
That said, faster speeds would be nice.
