Back when there were only six movies in the Star Wars universe (not counting the two direct-to-TV Ewok movies and the not-to-be-discussed Christmas Special), a popularly recommended viewing order for people who had not seen the movies came out. The suggestion was that people watch the original (A New Hope) and Empire first. Once it is revealed that [spoiler alert] Darth Vader is Luke's father, the next movies to watch are the prequels which explore how [spoiler alert] Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader. That way Return of the Jedi--which [spoiler alert] "redeems" Vader--brings the entire arc to a close.
With the inclusion of the Disney produced movies, this would put the two Star Wars Stories at the head and Episodes VII and VIII at the tail, still allowing for a direct transition between Rogue One and A New Hope. Better yet, it puts movies that Janelle likes more (three of which are the top three Star Wars movies IMHO) during a time that she can watch (if she wants to--[spoiler alert] she won't want to) while hiding the movies she likes the least during the time that she won't be home. It also makes it so I can start an hour later on Sunday (although this is countered by starting an hour earlier on my birthday) and have the movies more people are probably interested in seeing at times when more people are probably more interested in coming to see them [I triple-checked that sentence; it works].
Thus, the new tentative schedule is as follows:
December 22:
1:00 PM - 3:15 PM Solo: A Star Wars Story (2h 15m)
3:20 PM - 5:35 PM Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2h 13m)
5:40 PM - 7:40 PM A New Hope (2h 1m)
7:45 PM - 9:45 PM The Empire Strikes Back (2h 4m)
December 23:
7:00 AM - 9:15 AM The Phantom Menace (2h 15m)
9:20 AM - 11:50 PM The Attack of the Clones (2h 30m)
11:55 AM - 2:25 PM The Revenge of the Sith (2h 30m)
2:30 PM - 4:40 PM The Return of the Jedi (2h 11m)
4:45 PM - 7:00 PM The Force Awakens (2h 18m)
7:05 PM - 9:35 PM The Last Jedi (2h 32m)
I have to say that I'm getting more excited about this idea.
