The movie itself is immense. It makes me regret not seeing it in the theater. To get every reference or Easter egg, one would almost have to go through the movie shot by shot with a magnifying lens. It plays fan service to an amazing number of different realms of geekhood.
It's so bizarre that the book and the movie can have so many similarities, yet be so different at the same time. This is one case where I really couldn't say which I preferred more because they felt different enough to me, yet in the same spirit, that I believe both are worth watching in their own right. In the end, the truest measure for me as to how much I like a movie is whether I want to see it again, and I could watch it right now.
