Case in point: Our current governor of Michigan, Rick Snyder, sent his daughter to a private school with a tuition of over $20,000 a year. Families with students at the school were also encouraged to donate another $5,000 a year to help with heating and supply costs. Meanwhile, under Snyder's administration, my school's per pupil funding has been around $7,000. I do not understand how the governor believes that his daughter deserves a high school education that costs $13,000 to $18,000 more than what is provided to most Michigan students. If $7,000 is adequate funding for a student's education, why would he pay so much more (especially since he claims to be a fiscal conservative)?
It is discrimination. It is segregation. It is wrong.
