The most difficult aspect of having a sore throat for me is trying to get to sleep. I just lie there in bed, feeling my mouth fill with saliva, trying to think about not swallowing long enough to fall unconscious and thus allow the swallowing to happen automatically, but not succeeding. Each swallow jolts me into wakefulness, and the process starts all over again. And to this children who wake me up in the middle of the night, and I have a long night of pain.
Thankfully, this sore throat has not (at least, not yet) affected my voice as I rely on my voice for my work. Also, it seems (and I hope I'm not tempting fate here) that the Zicam (zinc supplements) is once again limiting this illness as I may already be on the mend.
Actually, aside from the sore throat and sleepiness, I feel pretty good.
