Today was no different. I was quite fortunate in that I met with nearly every parent of students who failed my first quarter as well as many parents of students who are doing quite well in my class. I am hoping that the positive tenor of our conversations today will resonate throughout the rest of the school year and allow my students to build on their successes in my class.
It was strange to be in the same conference area as Trevor's teachers were; although that did give me the opportunity to actually talk with his teachers this year. It also made it so I spent time with Janelle and the little boys as they visited conferences (Trevor was at rehearsal). Because of this, they also got to see me as "Mr. Marks" the teacher, a role they rarely (if ever) see me in.
It was a good day.
