The advantage of the Kia Sorento is that it is initially cheaper and there are a couple of great offers on pricing and APR as well as it being consistently rated as one of the more dependable SUVs. However, the Honda Pilot was the clear front-runner in the test drive (which surprised both of us as we are not big fans of Honda). It is considerably more spacious in the interior and the layout of its controls were more intuitive (probably because we have been driving my parents' Honda Civics these past few weeks). Its sticker price is higher, but the Kia (which I really wanted to like) had the fatal flaw (at least, based on Janelle's comments) of an annoying and loud sound for its turn signal. As an interesting note, the Pilot is also advertised as the only SUV completely built in the U.S.
We still haven't personally examined the Toyota Highlander which is the highest rated in many lists the drive to Ann Arbor was a bit too far for Janelle today. I don't know if we will get a chance to while we are down here, but we might want to before we make a final decision.
I also had a chance to test drive a VR (virtual reality) setup for the first time today. I am really impressed by the technology; however, I do not know if I am ready for it yet. I was having mild motion sickness issues even on the stationary immersion videos. I can at least understand the hype that it has been receiving these past few years.
