May seemed to disappear in the blink of an eye. Partially that feeling was due to how busy we’ve been as a family with various events (from game night to D&D to multiple birthdays), but I again recognize that time seems to more faster and faster for me as each unit of time becomes a smaller percentage of my overall life.
There weren’t any major disasters for me or my family this month. We celebrated Rowen’s, Katrina’s, my sister’s, and my father’s birthdays this month as well as Mother’s Day and my and Janelle’s wedding anniversary. I helped put Bj and Jennifer’s dock and boat lift (as well as his neighbor’s boat lifts) into the lake, but they are dealing with enough house and boat problems that my brother-in-law actually talked about selling everything and so he wouldn’t have to deal with it again.
My progress on my resolution points took a serious setback due to my gaining about six pounds over this month. I know that a major element of this is that I was ill at both the beginning and the end of the month, making it so I more frequently skipped doing my evening exercises. I was also taking part of a health program that encouraged eating more fruit and vegetables, which I did but not without reducing the amount of other kinds of foods that I eat. Thus, my “healthy” eating ironically added more calories to my overall diet. As we are about to enter summer break, I need to be much more diligent about limiting my portions and not snacking if I want to continue to make positive progress on my weight and waistline.
Otherwise, things have been good. We are still playing Mariokart 8 every day as a family. I have also been playing Borderlands 2 online with Alex more this month than we have in the past. I haven’t been as physically active (again, largely due to the illnesses that bookended this month) as I would like and hope to change that over this summer. I have, however, made some positive progress on one of my writings and I hope to keep that trend up.
I am looking forward to summer break, but it is already starting to fill. Looming so close is my trip to Salt Lake City (which I leave for next week) where I will be an AP World History Test Reader. We also have two other trips that we plan to take as a family. A few of our Mondays, a number of Wednesdays (of all days), and almost all of our Fridays have been scheduled for some sort of D&D session. I’m looking forward to them, but the days do fill up rather quickly.
