For a while it seemed that my best option was to buy stock in paper towels. Even a couple of days ago, River peed in front of a large group of people despite having been taken out and peeing fifteen minutes prior. As the puppies' bladders got larger, so to did their messes. I was really discouraged a last Friday when I found that one of them made a solid deposit as well.
Yet, as of this moment, we have gone for two full days without any incident. I know that this is partially due to better vigilance on our part, as well as a stricter control over the puppies' access to water. However, they have also gotten better about signalling their need as well, sitting patiently by the door when they have to go.
I know that we will still need more paper towels in the future, but I'm quite pleased that we've started this more positive trend.
