Now, it's not as powerful as the PS4 or Xbox One, but it also uses much less energy. For that matter, it even uses less energy than the Wii which it replaced. Once we finally get our wifi problems fixed, I hope to use it instead of the PS3 for our Netflix and Hulu watching as it uses nearly a third of the energy that the PS3 does.
While most new games are avoiding the Wii U, Nintendo still makes some of the best games in the business. Recently, they announced a new Zelda title, by itself that would sell me, but they also announced a new Xenoblade Chronicles which has been one of my favorite games in the past few years. Yet what sold me most recently was Mario Kart 8. I love racing games. The two that started me on this love were F-Zero and the original Mario Kart. Unfortunately, racing games have become more and more disappointing for me, to the point that I only bought one racing game in all the years I have had the PS3, and I don't see any on the horizon for the coming systems. Except Mario Kart 8. Having played it tonight, I can say that it's the best Mario Kart Game that I have yet played (even though the blue shells are still cheap).
It is also the only next gen system to be backwards compatible with its previous system. Not only can we play the new Wii U games, but we still have a catalog of Wii games that we can play. Not only are the games backwards compatible, but so are the controllers. Which leads to my main reason for loving the system: multiplayer.
This is a system made to play with family and friends. With children who are eager to play, this was a no-brainer for me. What has been best about this system so far is that my wife has also joined in with us again. Don't get me wrong, I like playing the other systems' games, but Nintendo has a way of bringing family and friends together.
