Resolutions
Rather than simply make a list of resolutions, I have made a list of different things that I would like to accomplish through the year and given each item a point value. My goal is to "score" at least a hundred points by the end of the year. Some items (like getting published) are worth considerably more than others (like completing a video game), but the idea is that I will keep some level of record of my goals and will feel like I'm accomplishing something without feeling like a failure for missing just one resolution.
To help me in this endeavor, I have created a Google Spreadsheet to help keep track. I have even broken it down by month so that I can, if I so choose, use this as a reference for when I reached certain accomplishments. I am sharing this spreadsheet here for two purposes. One, hopefully keeping a "live" document will keep me honest. Two, anyone else interested in doing something similar can use my sheet to make their own copy and create a Resolution Points sheet of their own. I would recommend first copying the document and then "duplicating" the "Blank" tab to make your own list. As long as you stay in the first 50 rows, put in an appropriate goal (default is 100), give each item on the list a point value, and keep accurate track of each time you reach an accomplishment, the points should total on their own.
