As the temperatures are going to be quite cold up there (-25 for the low) and Mera does not have any kind of oil pan or engine block heater, I don't want to risk staying the night up there. Thus, we are leaving very early in the morning (5am at the latest) in the hopes of getting to his dorm by 2 or 3pm. We will then pack up, turn around, and head home; hopefully, getting back before midnight.
We have flares, a shovel, emergency supplies (including can and candle) already in Mera. I plan on bringing sleeping bags and blankets just in case. I have plenty of music and 9 hours of backlogged "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" episodes to help pass the time. I've already plotted it through Google maps and have snacks for the drive (left from our Anchorage trip).
I pray for good driving conditions tomorrow and restful sleep tonight.
