Already, this trip feels different. At least one reason is due to the dropping of the mask mandate in airports and on flights. After two years with that restriction, it feels bizarre to almost not have a mask in sight.
Another change is how I packed. This is my first time going to a Reading without a large suitcase or even my laptop. Gone also are my folders that I used to organize receipts, boarding passes, and other documentation. I’ve finally learned how to travel relatively lightly with just a carry-on case and a backpack.
My layover entertainment is now different too as I have access to my streaming services. In this case, I just finished an episode of The Bad Batch. That has certainly made the time sitting here fly by.
I still do not like traveling alone. On my last several trips I have had family members to keep an eye on my luggage as I used the restroom. It’s much less convenient to take it in with me.
I wonder what other changes this trip will have.
