While I relished the drive to and from work today, others were not as fortunate. Janelle ended up getting stuck after dropping Trevor off at the bus. Thankfully she was helped by some friendly good Samaritans. Meanwhile, numerous cars were off the road. I witnessed as one truck slid off the road and onto the snow-machine trail. It almost looked like he had done it intentionally, expect that the front of his truck was torn apart from his journey through the ditch. Another SUV was nearly vertical against a tree down the side of one of the steep edges of the road to our rental. Yet another driver, when I stopped to see if he needed assistance, expressed his frustration at an inexperienced driver who rear-ended him into a ditch, giving him a flat tire.
Considering all of that, I'm getting up earlier so I have more time to get to work in the morning as the roads that melted a bit in the sun today will be sheets of ice in the morning. I'm really pleased with how well Mera (my Prius) handles this kind of driving, but I plan to be cautious nonetheless.
It will give me more time to enjoy the snow.
