My largest deficit was in my overall health. Since coming to Alaska, I had been steadily improving my overall health--with a normal amount of regression during the holidays. This year saw me slip back into the bad habits of my past. There were legitimate reasons behind some of this, but that does not change the fact that I feel worse at the end of this year than I did at the beginning. For this reason, I plan to refocus my efforts during 2018 before I find myself at 2010 levels of weight and activity.
My resolutions also did not include major parts of my life this year such as finding and starting a new job or working on my doctorate in educational technology. However, I cannot help but feel a bit less productive this year when compared to previous years. While I did add a couple of categories to keep track of--and hopefully encourage--my work on my dissertation (which technically starts this summer), I also want to strive to be more positively productive during 2018.
It is also clear that I need to make a stronger effort to spend time with Janelle without the children. Our daily schedule has been pretty chaotic this past year. I need to take the time to make certain she knows that I do not take her for granted.
All in all, I'm looking forward to making 2018 a better year.
