I say unfortunately, but I liked Windows 7, probably more than any other Windows version except for XP. There was an opportunity to upgrade to Windows 10 for free a couple of years ago, but Trevor did not want to risk it considering some of the issues that 10 was giving me at the time (which have been since worked out). Sadly, that opportunity has passed.
You see, I was setting up the computer for Rowen to use when I received a message that Windows 7 will be discontinued at the beginning of 2020. This is not a terrible thing; it simply means no more updates ... except that most of the games that the boys play are on Steam, and Steam does not run on unsupported Windows systems (we learned that when Connor could no longer run games on the machine that still had Vista [the worst operating system] on it--there's a story for why it still had Vista on it).
Meanwhile, Windows 10 costs about $140 for its base version. That's more than we want to spend to keep an old, slow computer running.
Except that Rowen was so happy to have his own computer even if it is old and slow, and he went to bed before I got the notification.
I hate forced obsolescence.
