One of the issues is that it takes longer to cook all of the bacon than any of the other food. Plus, its aroma fills the house for the entire cooking time and quite a bit thereafter. Thus, I start "sneaking" pieces of bacon soon after they come out of the pan--that's when they taste the best, after all.
As I noted, the cooking time takes a while, thus I usually need a couple of other pieces of bacon to keep my hunger at bay. Sometimes, I will eat a piece that is a little too overdone, so I have to get another, more perfectly cooked, one to keep my palate satisfied. And, of course, I need several pieces on my actual dinner plate which finally contains the other parts of the meal as well.
That ends up meaning that I have eaten a good deal of bacon. This is not said with regret. I'm just saying that it is one of the reasons we moderate how often we have breakfast food for dinner.
