As my children grew up and expressed an interest, I would take them along with me. We would stand outside in line at our first store a half hour before it opened, chatting with the strangers around us in line and waving at people we knew who were a little more sane and arrived later. When they were old enough, we would split up to divide and conquer as we made our way through the store, usually with one person getting into the check out line to hold the place.
This year, Rowen had asked to join. Connor was not thrilled with the idea, but I was willing to let Rowen come if he was willing to get up soon enough. Thankfully, Rowen was not too upset when I let him know that we weren't going to do it this year.
