For a brief moment towards the end of my prep period, I was finally caught up on all of my grading in my classes. It was a wonderful feeling. There had been a group of essays that had been hanging around my neck for a little while. Having that weight drop off made me feel suddenly buoyant.
Sure, before my prep was done, a couple of students came in to drop off projects that they had done to make up for some of their low test scores. And sure, by the end of the day, even more had piled on. Still, that moment of being free was certainly uplifting. It was like a preview of my summer break.
