Our track team did very well once again despite how limited the events were at this meet. The weather was perfect, which was quite a surprise considering both the forecasts and the tremendous downpour that we had to pass through to get to Nikiski. As there were no hurdle events, I spent most of the time playing "security guard" up in the bleachers. It was a great deal of fun to watch the races with parents and students cheering on our team.
Rowen turned six today. He informed us a couple of weeks ago that this was his "golden" birthday because he was turning six on the sixth. Janelle was able to go to his school concert today which I think helped make the day even more special for him. Most impressively, she made him a cake that exactly fit his specifications: a chocolate Batman cake with strawberries and blueberries on top. Not only did it look perfect (based on the picture she texted me, as the cake was well-eaten by the time I got home), but it tasted great too.
It's been a full day.
