We took stock of our yard, and not counting the trees that are too close to the electrical line or that won't be taken care of as a part of septic replacement, we have eleven trees within direct eyesight of the house, another four along our driveway, and dozens upon dozens further in our wooded lot. Connor pointed out that even doing a tree a day (which we will not be doing), it would take more time than we have left this summer to get it all done.
Meanwhile, the bugs have been loving me. Even coated in citronella, I was clearly a favorite snack (maybe they think of citronella the same way I do jalapeno). As I was in gloves, boots, long sleeve shirt, jeans, and a hat; the only real place that they could get to was my head--my ears in particular. While I have one nasty bite in the middle of my forehead, the rest are around and within my ears. Janelle picked up some netting that I can don that will hopefully end that issue.
Now, we have a large pile of brush and five stacks of spruce (this is not counting the massive stack of wood that we accumulated last year). If you would like some firewood, I don't have a use for it. I won't even ask for a sheep, ore, brick, or wheat for trade.
[Edit: Connor took some pictures of me. He said that the hat and safety glasses made me look like I was a musician from the 70s.]
