I didn't take readings for the entire trip, but from Healy (where it was -25) to Anchorage (where it was 5), Mera only averaged 30 mpg (miles per gallon). Normally, Mera tends to have a higher mpg going through mountain passes as the downhill sections charge her batteries. From Anchorage to home, Mera averaged 43 mpg (closer to her 47 mpg overall average). I can only assume that our time closer to Fairbanks had an even lower fuel economy as we experienced temperatures as low as -30 on our drive.
Even with drop of efficiency, I only stopped for gas four times total on the trip to Fairbanks and back, purchasing about 27 gallons of gas. Considering that Mera didn't start on a completely full tank and that she ended with more than half a tank left, she probably used about 30 gallons of gas, giving the 1,000 mile trip an average of around 33 mpg and a cost of about $100 in fuel (I bought 6 gallons in an isolated area at the price of $4 per gallon; the rest was bought at about $3 per gallon). Thus, I'm still pretty happy with Mera's performance.
