They were also quite heavy. When we finally moved into our current (and favorite) house, it took six people to get the couch up our stairs and into our living room. In comparison, it only took two people to do the same for the couches that we would later purchase. I said back then that the only way that couch was coming back down was in pieces.
Today, that prediction came true. While Janelle and the boys were at the dentist, I took a sledgehammer to the couch, dividing it into manageable pieces which we later carried out and delivered to the dump. At the dump, we got some close-up pictures of a couple of the hundreds of bald eagles that were there. Back home, Connor, of course, kept some of the intact pieces of wood for his future inventions. The love seat, which had been moved to the boys' room several years ago, was then returned to the living room and now takes the couch's previous territory.
The entire process was quite exhausting, but still oddly satisfying.
