Snow from the garage roof landed in our driveway, necessitating that I plow the drive--especially considering the inch of heavy, wet snow from earlier in the day. While I have pushed half a foot deep of "dry" snow with a problem, today's snow--especially the compacted snow from the roof--created more of a challenge. Although I managed to figure out how to clear my driveway, I do wonder how well Scarlet (my ATV) will do when we get a larger amount of the heavy stuff.
I am also concerned about my dogs' behavior. Snow falling from the roof tends to make them more skittish than normal. Starbuck has already jumped into my lap twice today. We have to keep an eye on them to make certain that they don't leave messes in the house as they are sometimes too distracted by their fear to do their business outside.
With all of that, I still feel a sense of serenity from my memory of watching the snow fall this morning. These heavy, wet snows often produce massive clusters of flakes that fall like someone had just shaken a snow globe. This morning, even Irene was mesmerized by those flakes coming down as the sky gradually brightened. It was quite the sight.
