Today's meeting had them voting on contracts and the agreements that our school administration made with our unions regarding next year's contract. Every member voted for each of the measures that they could vote on (a few had to abstain from a couple of the items as their spouses work for the school district). It was a positive step forward that I appreciate, even if there is still more work to be done.
Thankfully, we seem united in getting our state to properly, let alone adequately, fund our state's public educational programs. This means working together in cutting through the political garbage that surrounds education. It seems that the school board is rotating through members to go down to Juneau (and again, our capital needs to be moved to a location accessible through the road system) as well as a student delegation. Hopefully, we can get everyone working together to make our state a better place.
