Today felt like the first day of summer. We've had a few warm days this week, but today Michelle Kallus Yeager invited us to a lake barbeque and it really felt like summer had arrived. Despite only being in the high sixties, I quickly regretted not being in shorts and just as quickly doffed the layers I had worn over my t-shirt "just in case." We got to spend some time in paddle boats and eat hamburgers, hot dogs, rib meat, barbequed chicken, salmon "candy", potato salad, corn-on-the-cob, noodle salad, strawberry chocolate chip cake (made by Janelle for Connor's special day), rhubarb cobbler, rhubarb crisp, rice crispy treats, as well as some other foods that I have probably forgotten. It was a perfect summer feast.
I also mowed my lawn for the first time today. The new electric mower worked great, getting all of the main areas before running out of charge. It was nice to simply push a button and go without worrying about how much the experience would affect my hearing. The mower sounded like I was listening from inside my house with closed windows to one of my neighbors mow the lawn (except when I chipped a rock). The lawn looks great. It only took 30 minutes to recharge the battery for me to finish the final small pieces off.
