The first was an article that my sister-in-law, Rachel, sent to my brother-in-law, John, which discussed the idea that hair (including facial, and I would assume other body, hair) is actually an extension of the nervous system and that it can provide people (the article focused on Native American scouts) extrasensory perception. Now, I'm not certain how much I buy into that idea, but it does bring back my not so suppressed desire to grow out a pony tail.
The second event was when I started playing Legacy of the Void, the final full expansion of Starcraft II, which just became available today (Jon, my brother, was kind enough to preorder it for me). A major premise of the game is that the Protoss (a heroic alien race) have hair which serves as an extension of their nervous system and gives them extrasensory perception (to the point that an evil creature is able to control them through it).
Really?! I am not certain what the odds are that I would encounter this almost identical premise from two such wildly different sources within a few hours of each other on the same day, but I think that they would be pretty extreme.
I had been planning on asking Janelle to buzz cut my hair in the near future; now, I'm starting to consider the pony tail idea again ...
