Starbuck, in particular, seems concerned that I am spending too much time in my office chair and not enough time throwing her ball so she can fetch it. River is more content to put her head in my lap and whimper until I start petting her. Both are absolutely adorable, but they can make it difficult to concentrate.
The real issue is the bell by the door which we placed so they can let us know when they want out. It feels like River is jingling it every hour--only to then start barking to be let in after a few minutes outside. If I'm not actively in class, this does give me the excuse to walk down and then back up the stairs.
As I write this, Starbuck has come into the office and laid down next to me, keeping me company. I think that she's waiting for me to throw the ball some more. I really shouldn't disappoint her.
