It's been a fairly low-key Fourth of July for us. Janelle and Trevor still went in to work (I have an entire rant about "holiday pay," but it can wait). Meanwhile, due to the intermittent showers (which came in short segments unpredictable downpour that didn't amount to much total precipitation) I didn't do any tree work, so my primary project was working on cleaning out our garage's storage room. Currently, Mera is filled with Styrofoam and cardboard that I need to take to the dump tomorrow morning.
Aside from grilling, we really didn't do any traditional Independence Day activities. I'm not a parade person, so we didn't go to watch (let alone walk in) one. Not only are fireworks rather lackluster due to the bright summer nights, they're completely banned this year due to our extremely dry conditions (occasional, short, unpredictable downpours have not been enough to lower our fire danger). We didn't even watch a Fourth of July movie like The Patriot, Independence Day, or Live Free or Die Hard--although, I did watch Weird Al's polka version of Hamilton.
Janelle and I did, however, wear our matching USA shirts that I picked up from Washington D.C. this year.
