I returned home and researched this particular mower. It's called the EGO Power Plus, and considering the size of my ego, I figured that I had an unlimited energy source at my disposal. Alas, I guess the brand is supposed to be more E (as in electric) Go. Still, everything I read seemed to indicate that this mower would be a good fit for me anyway. With the main concern being price, and Home Depot's price drop (they seem to be phasing in a slightly bigger version) largely taking care of that, I decided to go for the mower.
I like the idea of it being more environmentally friendly. I like not having to remember to cart around gas tanks when I need to mow. I like not having to change the oil or spark plugs. I like not having to fight with a pull-cord. I like that it won't be a reason behind my continued hearing loss. I like the idea that it's light and easy to use enough that someone else might mow the lawn (ahem, Trevor).
Now, I only played with it for a little while today, but everything I had read about it being quiet, lightweight, and easy to use was certainly true. I will have to let people know more as I actually put it through its paces. I am cautiously optimistic, thus my cynical side is naturally concerned.
