This season was certainly not as high intensity as the second season was, especially considering the lack of any excitement cameos. Sure, Zeb (from Rebels) showed up briefly in a New Republic bar, but this season largely stuck to the main cameo of Bo Katan, once again played by Katee Stackhoff (best known from Longmire and Battlestar Galactica), around whom most of the season centered--almost more so than Din Djarin or Grogu. I certainly didn't mind that as I like both the character and the actor; however, I could see how people who had not seen the latter seasons of The Clone Wars or of Rebels might be wondering why she got so much attention.
I mentioned that this season could almost stand as a final season for the series; however, I also feel that the ending was also like a soft reboot for the series as well. The Darksaber's appearance in the end credits scene of the first season's finale pulled The Mandalorian into a larger, more epic, tale that was brought to a satisfying conclusion today. The creators are no free of that larger, interconnected burden and can either move to a more episodic approach (which gets my vote) or start a new major storyline. Any way it goes, I'll be happy to go along for the ride.
This is the Way.
