We started yelling at them that they needed to fin somewhere else to eat and they reluctantly began to head toward the woods. One of them startled a bit and hit her (I believe she was a her) leg on a small patio spot near one of the emergency exits. She did not care for that experience, but instead of leaving she turned back towards the church and started munching again.
We yelled at her again, but this time her hackles went up and she took a step in our direction. Ready to bravely run away, I yelled out “Don’t you dare!” At this, she swung her neck around like a teenage girl in a huff and ran off to join the other moose in the woods. The situation was so briefly tense yet comical that I burst out laughing. I regret only taking a picture and not going for a video.
This was the first time that I saw “attitude” from a moose.
