This year, I was asked to announce the names of the students as they walked out for promenade. I admit that I was a little concerned about getting students' names wrong, especially as there were many whom I didn't know and some of their handwriting was quite difficult to decipher. Thankfully, I didn't seem to do to badly--at least, I only heard compliments and not any complaints (so far).
Personally, I enjoyed the role. It might surprise some of you to discover that I do enjoy having use of a microphone, but it's true. However, my favorite part was that I got to see nearly all of the students and their tremendous smiles close up. It was also nice to have my role over earlier in the evening. I know that I will likely be chaperoning the entirety of the dances from the point that Connor is a junior until Rowen graduates, so it's good to have a year or two of a breather.
Most of all, I'm glad that I wasn't in charge of organizing it this year.
