- The first of the month held our school's talent show, which was definitely worth the time. I made no attempt to hold back my enthusiasm for the spectacular displays of talent that our students shared.
- I definitely enjoyed Part 2 of the Dune movie series. It's fantastic science fiction. Even if it doesn't fully feel like Dune (as based on the novel) to me, I appreciate this particular take on the story.
- I hit the 10 year mark for writing these daily blog posts.
- We wrapped up the 3rd quarter of my 26th school year.
- Much of the beginning of this month dealt with planning and packing for mine and Janelle's trip to Michigan.
- As part of the trip, we used a parking service in Anchorage for the first time. The system worked fairly smoothly, but it felt like it took a while for them to pick us up from the airport after our arrival. Based on the relaxed attitudes of some of the other passengers on the shuttle bus, I'm assuming that this is a normal occurrence.
- Our trip to Michigan for my mother's 75th birthday seemed to fly by. During it, we were able to spend time with my parents, many family members, and a small number of friends.
- I managed to catch a light cold from my grandchildren that plagued me on the return trip.
- On the plane trips (and layovers) back, I read through the entirety of Dune: Messiah and concluded that it would probably be the last of that series that I would read.
- Our governor vetoed an much needed (and still not substantial enough) increase to educational spending. Cowards in the legislature who had initially voted for the increase then refused to override his veto by ONE vote.
- I spent a day being humbled by another plumbing issue due to our aging pipes.
- I decided to run for the executive board of our local teachers' union.
- I've appreciated Tifa's (my Kia Sportage's) drivability during the Break Up on our roads.
- We ended the month with the celebration of the Triduum--and with a nearly two-day loss of power.
March has come and gone. It seemed to come and go like a lion, leaving the lamb from the old aphorism out of the picture entirely. As I watch the spring snow fall here at the beginning of April, I am at least glad that power (and, thus, warmth and light) has been restored. With modern conveniences restored, I feel that I can reflect on the past month as I could not do so yesterday.
