This question of mine might not be just academic. A similar (in fact, more powerful) storm is currently forecasted to hit on Sunday. I watched today as the forecast for total snowfall amounts changed from between 7 and 13 inches to between 9 and 16 inches. Now, weather forecasts here are notorious for their inaccuracies, but the storm on Tuesday was originally forecasted from between 5 and 11 inches in Anchorage.
One spot of good news was that I got my first report on Scarlet (my ATV). It seems that her oil drain plug was stripped. They suggested (and I took their advice) that they seal the plug permanently. They are going to let it dry tonight, and then put in oil and test her tomorrow. Hopefully, I turned her off soon enough so that none of her gears are damaged. If she passes their inspection, we will actually have her help in plowing us out of whatever snowfall hits us. That certainly sounds better than trying to shovel out of it.
We will have to see what happens.
