Meanwhile, my conferences went well today with many positive moments and no negative ones. The turnout was quite a bit lower than I hoped (I only met with 26 parents), but that is often expected during "spring" conferences at the high school level. It was still nice to get to know my students, their parents, and even my coworkers a bit better today.
Janelle and I have been watching the TV series Dark Matter and have been enjoying it -- although it's no Firefly or Battlestar. The premise is that six people in the future wake up on a spaceship with no memory of their past, but with their skills still intact. It's just shy of being great in so many areas, but it has some fun sci-fi elements and an intriguing enough of a story to keep us going. I know that it was cancelled after the third season and that not everything gets wrapped up, so I'm keeping that in mind as I watch.
I have two more tasks for my doctoral class this week before it finished. I'll be happy for this one to end, but I already have to start thinking about books and financial aid for the next two that start in a couple of weeks. Still, it will be good to have a bit more unallocated time for a little while.
