It has its drawbacks. Like so many shows in recent years, it often has "adult" content of language, nudity, and violence (although not to the degree of Game of Thrones). Thankfully, it also has the adult content I prefer that deals with complex issues in thought-provoking ways. I especially like that it makes me consider how generations of people living in space might culturally and physically change us as a species.
We watched the show on Amazon Prime, but it was good enough that I purchased the DVDs. One downside of watching it on Prime is that the closed-captioning is often out-of-sync with the words, to the point that I had to turn it off. As a number of the characters have "futuristic" accents, especially the "belters," they are frequently hard to understand. I look forward to watching it with captions in the future. I'm also quite glad that Amazon picked it up for a fourth season (and beyond) after SyFy dropped it.
If you enjoy science fiction, or an enamored with the idea of humankind reaching out into space, this is a show worth watching. In fact, some of its episodes (such as the mid-season two finale) are some of the best things I have seen on television.
