Now, I love bacon, and ham, and pork chops, and pork sausage, and pork ribs ... you get the picture. These heroes from the Bible died rather than eat the food I love. Now, I understand that the story is about more than food, but I cannot help but wonder: Is each slice of bacon a step away from resurrection, or if not (as Peter claims) then didn't these people die for a false principle?
The Gospel then gives us another story of seven brothers, each who marry the same woman after their older brother dies. When the question of which brother's wife will the woman be in heaven, Jesus replies by saying that none in heaven are married. Again, this raises questions about my own life. One of my friends uses this passage as an explanation for why he doesn't care for the Christian ideal of heaven. Why would he want to go to a heaven where he would be separated from his wife and family?
I have faith that there is more to the story, and that God's paradise is greater than anything that I could image, but I understand other people's hesitation and concern about my lack of proof for my belief.
