I worry a bit about my own veil being torn away, leaving nothing but the raw me exposed. I doubt my exposed self would last long in the unfiltered radiance of God's presence. Nor am I thrilled with the idea of those who know me seeing the "me" that is hidden within the layers of identity with which I have dressed myself.
Yet the Gospel suggests that I will need to clothe the true me in the radiant robes required for a celebratory feast. The veils which I have used to hide myself from the world are not fitting for such a festive occasion. In fact, Jesus makes it clear that kingdom of heaven is not a "come as you are" party. Rather, we need to be ready to remove the veils shadow our vision and visage and fill ourselves with the joy of His presence and love.
