1. Packing: I bought a new backpack tonight as the one that I planned on using had a tear in it that I only recently noticed. I am only bringing what I can fit into that backpack on the trip. Not only do I not want to deal with checked luggage, I don't want to worry about a second bag as I navigate airports. Now I need to figure out what (specifically) I want to wear while there.
2. Grading: Of course, I picked the weekend that eligibility grades are due to go on this trip. I have been warning my students that they needed to get everything in that they wanted graded by today, but I suspect that I might be grading for a little while after school so that I give them their best chance before I submit grades.
3. Sub plans: I have two separate substitute teachers coming in for these three days that I'm missing. I leave detailed plans, but that means that they take a while to make.
4. Getting back: There's been a hitch with my return trip. My schedule got shifted a hour later. This will give me a very short window to get off my Alaska Airlines flight (which arrives at about 9:40pm) and to my Grant Aviation flight (which leaves at 10:15). I've let both sides know about the issue. EF Tours is looking into other flight possibilities to get me to Anchorage sooner, but did not sound encouraging. Grant said that they would let me on the flight as long as I get to them by 10. I leave this one up to God at this point.
All will be well. I still have nearly a day and a half to get ready.
