The weather here has been full of surprises lately. The first is the extended cold snap of temperatures hitting below zero. Back when it started, weather forecasters kept predicting that the cold snap would end in just a few days. Every day for more than a week, the weather report would say that it would end in just a few days. When it finally admitted that the cold snap was likely to last for at least ten days, the temperatures jumped nearly twenty degrees (even into the teens) and snow started to fall out of skies that were supposed to be clear. Those flurries have been falling off and on for a couple of days now.
I love it.
At our house, the snowfall has been only a light covering which is then promptly compacted as we drive to and from work. However, in the areas that do not see as much tire traffic, the snow is forming some small piles. As it is usually dark (and cold) by the time I get home from playing Dad taxi, putting off any kind of plowing or shoveling is easy to do. I will not have the same excuse these next few days.
In truth, I like having the excuse to give Scarlet some exercise, so I might even get out there tomorrow … as long as it isn't too cold.
