For me, I prefer to vote in person. While I am all for other forms of voting, especially for those who find it difficult to get to a polling station on election day, I enjoy the experience of voting in person. It's like the difference between listening to a favorite musician in concert as opposed to on a recording. Both are fine, but the in person experience just feels more special.
Granted, my first time ever national election experience was with an absentee ballot (I was a resident in Michigan, but was voting in Alaska). I had procrastinated a bit (as college students tend to do), and I mailed the ballot only a day before the election. I remembered feeling quite dejected when the elections were called the following evening, as I knew that--although mine was still a valid ballot--my votes in no way mattered towards the outcome of the election. In a way, the close elections of recent years has been beneficial as they have demonstrated how important every vote truly is.
With that said, I want to once again say: if you have not yet voted, please get out and vote tomorrow.
