In Alaska, I want a politician who is not deeply in the pockets of oil interests, but who understands the need to balance oil development with other sources of state revenue. The information I have found so far has not really enlightened me in these areas. I like the idea of voting for non-affiliated candidates due to my frustration with main party actions this past year, but it's often even more difficult to get to the core of their ideas (except, ironically, for those who seem opposed to some of the views I feel most strongly about).
There has to be a better way to do this, but I'm not sure what it is.
